This cake can be served with custard as a dessert or cut into big squares about the size of a muffin for lunches.

Dianne is a very busy lady and gave me this recipe one morning as I was working in the shop. It was scribbled out on a paper bag and I am so glad I didn’t loose it as it is such a useful and easy soup to make.

In this recipe you cook your carrots without any water the idea being that you won’t be pouring away any of the goodness.

Parboil the potatoes in salted water for about 7 minutes. They should be slightly undercooked. In a frying pan or large saucepan add 2 tbsp olive oil and fry the garlic and shallots until soft.

A real Autumn/Winter dish. Suits Chicken or Pork Roasts well or Chunky meaty pork sausages from your butcher.

A simple dish but rarely appreciated. The beef flavour comes from properly browned beef with the right amount of salt and pepper. No other additives or processed stock cubes are added. The meat and veg are cooked together and what is left over can easily be made into a beef curry ( see recipe) or frozen for another day. Easiliy reheated in the micro and thrifty!

I make this sometimes with a mixture of potatoes and sweet potatoes as I like sweet potatoes and husband doesn’t-but he’s getting used to them.

Lovely winter veg which freezes well if you have any left over.

The easiest recipe to bake for Christmas. If the mincemeat you buy is lacking in raisins/sultanas/currants,and most of them are, add a spoonful or two of your own and some grated orange zest. A spoonful of brandy doesn\'t go amiss either.

Dapple Dandy\'s are a very sweet fruit from a cross betweem plums and apricots, but they take after the plum side of the family more so.They have a distinctive dappled skin. This recipe also works for firm sweet plums. Easy throw together cake

this is a healthy and filling salad for summer. Even so I still have a dollop of mayonnaise with this.

How’s about taking a small casserole or pyrex dish and sprinkling a little stuffing on the bottom then lay on 2,3,4 whatever suits, nice fresh chicken fillets. On top of the chicken scatter over a good inch or more of stuffing and pop in the oven for about 1 ¼ Hours at 160 c . This makes a very filling Roast Chicken Dinner, and if there is any left when it’s cold cut into slices for lunches or salad. When I do this at home I dot some extra butter over the top before baking. Or you...

Jelly making could not be easier especially if you don\\\'t get too hung up on getting a super clear finnish.

This is a rich and satisfying casserole. Try serving with our Potato and Leek Champ to make a complete meal. Use a casserole suitable for hob and oven if you have one. Failing that use a good big frying pan and a casserole dish. I always cook the beef on high heat in 2 batches for this dish to get a good colour and savoury deep flavour.

Deborrah passed on this recipe to me. Feb tells me her teenage daughter (who does not like veggies) loves this!

A great way to take full advantage of a vegetable that we can grow really well. What\'s more it has fewer calories than mashed potatoes and more nutritious.

This takes less than 2 minutes to put together. Time yourself and you will see what I mean. Perfect for working mums.

This recipe might seem a little too much bother but it is simply- fry the meat-cook in the sauce-add the veggies.

Easy to make soup by Sophie Grigson with the addition of a little chilli. I especially like the flavour of this one.
